Marie Scott, 92, poses for a portrait wearing her WWII service medal and her French Legion d'honneur at her home in southwest #London on May 31. Scott, a D-Day veteran and former switchboard operator, vividly recalls the horrifying sounds of June 6, 1944, as she relayed orders down the line to the troops storming the beaches of Normandy. At age 17, AFP reports, she was one of nine women transmitting critical messages back and forth between communications headquarters in England and the fighting in #France, as the Allied invasion to liberate Western #Europe began. Scott was photographed ahead of the 75th anniversary of #DDay. Photograph by Daniel Leal-Olivas (@lealolivas)—@AFP通信/@gettyimages
