Even those who were known for their playfulness now follow a more purist ethos: lyricism, messages and things of that nature are making a comeback and I think that ‘Daytona’ has played a big part in that. As for me, my biggest influence has been 1990s rap, simply because that music is so dense with meaning and wordplay that even today you still find hidden gems in those lyrics.
