First shown to me by the late great Galen Rowell, this 4,000-foot granite blade inspired my first expedition to the Karakoram in 1999. We sold 500 t-shirts to help pay for the trip. After multiple attempts, Brady Robinson and I ended up making the first ascent of the left skyline. I don’t even remember what we called the route, but I do remember being terrified standing at the base of it and throwing ourselves at it fully wide-eyed and gripped.
