Folks, it is disturbing and quite concerning to know that so many declawing veterinarians are lying to their clients about this inhumane amputation procedure.😾
This woman from West Michigan is angry at us and is attacking us for trying to educate her and the public about the facts. 🙀😿 She's inspired us to do more campaigns in West Michigan that will educate the public about declawing and about the easy, humane options.
In honor of Karen and her declawed cats, we will get the truth out through billboards and targeted facebook ads and possibly a newspaper ad in Mlive.
Her comments also show us why declawing needs to be banned.

babybackcat This is so sad and I know this pain 11 years ago when I went to a vet and did not know any better they told me they just took off the finger nails. A friend of mine had been declawing her cats for years and she would do anything give up her life for her cats so I couldn’t imagine that it would be bad. Well now I know thanks to projects like the paw project that it is more than that?. I didn’t have a smart phone back then just a flip phone no Internet so things were different but now sharing spread the word and yes cats need their claws. They don’t do anything to your furniture anyway and if you want love your furniture more than you love your cat or any animal for that matter and just don’t get a pet. I have a linen slipcovers very expensive and you can wash them and any kind of claw marks go right away so there are beautiful options for people that want nice furniture it’s not a big deal. I am so happy programs like this exists so we can help spread the word so people don’t make mistakes, people that trust their vets. Don’t get me started like over vaccinating! vets are killing are cats?

smurp3 Nine years ago my husband said I had to have our two cats declawed if I wanted to keep them. I reluctantly had the procedure done. Their claws were lazered. I wish I had stood up to my husband. My one cat ended up with nerve damage. She holds her left paw up all the time. It's so sad. We got 3rd cat 3 years ago. This time my husband agreed declawing our other cats was a huge mistake. Our 3rd cat will never go through the pain that my two older cats did.?

Declaw [digital amputation] procedures were inpatient procedures at every hospital I worked at due to potential for post surgical complications. And the cats NEVER should have been running around. I call baloney on that lady. Her cats would have surely had complications if they were running around the evening of the amputations. She's even more delusional than most.

linds13cath So the "rescue" that declawed all its cat is no longer doing that - quite possibly because of pressure from you and from the stores who did not want to encourage declawing! They still advocate for declawing, but they do list alternatives. I'll have to send you a picture the next time I visit one of the stores they adopt out from. (I'm from West Michigan)

4n6grrrl Really, Karen? You have not only been lied to, but you are lying. I have assisted in more declaws than I care to remember. Hell yeah, it’s an amputation! 10 separate amputations, in fact. And no way in hell is a cat going to go home the same day, let alone be jumping anywhere. You have no idea, Karen. And you insult those of us that do.
