Through the cupboard at the back of a small restaurant in Central Rome is a secret staircase that leads down into the ancient Theatre Of Pompei where Julius Caeser was murdered. To stand & ponder that this door led out to the stage was wonderous & breathtaking! To have the opportunity to enter & touch these hidden walls, otherwise believed to be buried beneath the modern city, breath in the cool dank air, smell the musty ancient dust where actresses & actors once told stories of Roman life & be in the time sliding presence of the moment when the most famous of leaders was cornered by these walls & met his treacherous end, was so informative, exciting & extraordinary.
