Photo by @kevinfaingnaert | The walls around Cartagena, Colombia, were built by the Spanish after Sir Francis Drake and other pirates raided the city for Inca gold. The historic center is surrounded by seven miles of these imposing stone walls, complemented by fortifications and bastions, from which you can watch the sunset over the Caribbean Sea.

I have been there. Such a beautiful part of the country. The Ciudad Armuallada (Walled City) is so cool. And the beaches off the coast are stunning. I am definitely going back!

A very smart mayor demolished a large portion of the wall to open Cartagena to progress. Can you imagine?
