The World Health Organization (@who) recently labeled vaccine hesitancy one of 2019’s leading threats to global #health, and in the U.S. that threat is escalating. Every state except Alaska and West Virginia has at least one anti-vaccine organization, according to the Vaccine Liberation website, which tracks them. The most aggressive of the groups are not just demonstrating, but also actively challenging pro-vax legislators, running candidates against them in primaries. Their ubiquity, of course, does not change the misinformation they spread: that #vaccines are dangerous, even deadly; that they are linked not only to autism but also to ADHD, asthma, depression and other conditions. The near unanimous global consensus on the safety and lifesaving power of vaccines, they say, is a conspiracy driven by profits, on the part of governments, the pharmaceutical industry and even individual pediatricians. allisonserrao__ @michaelewolfer my son went into anaphylactic shock. I was very very pro vaccine. 7 years later we continue to deal with vision issues, muscle and development issues. I only found out three months ago that one of the vision issues he had following his vaccines is listed as a side effect on one of the vaccines he received on that day. Many parents believed whole heartedly in vaccines and so chose to go forward with them. The problem is, we are being MISINFORMED that they are 100% safe and effective, words regurgitated over and over by trusted health officials, media, news etc etc etc... when the reality is, like any medication and any medical procedure, it is NOT ALWAYS safe for EVERYONE. My children included. Yes, there should be more studies but there also needs to remain a choice to take those risks, or instead of mandating the vaccines themselves, we should be mandating insurance and guarantees that a particular procedure or vaccine IS safe for that specific individual. Until then, vaccines will remain a polarizing issue that every country will have to fight.

sgb_os @sgb_os any if you actually work with people with ASD? Gut health, or lack there of it, has been found to affect everyone. This is old research. Huge leaps are being made if you want to blame it for causing ASD in people. And I am not sure how gut healtht has anything to do with causing a disorder. I see how gut health affects people with ASD everyday. Either side off the fence cries propaganda, ignorance, stupidity and conspiracy. But now once eradicated illnesses are returning into the mainstream, those who are not immunized face stop signs through the education system and beyond. Does anyone ever consider that it's own conspiracy? Does anyone consider we are all here because of vaccinations. Does anyone consider that the escalation in ASD numbers is due to the changes made in it's diagnosis? I am sure each side of this debate have all the answers and all the 'research' to back it up. I wonder how many anti vax people are living safe lives due to their introduced immunities. I wonder how many pro vax people are doing the same.

x4change1416 @jesserieser More adequately summed up this whole thing in his photo captions, than the author of this article. @time could've used this opportunity to better help others understand what some of these parents are going through, and instead, they essentially continued to make them look bad. A lot of these parents, have vaccine injured children and you are diminishing who they are by reiterating that the WHO called them threats? Who are they threats to @time? Victims of vaccine injury aren't "threats" they are human beings who want people to have the choice and the transparency they deserve. Considering tax payer dollars pay restitution to the vaccine injured and their families via VAERS, we deserve the right to choose and have all the facts prior to making that choice. Perhaps the author of this article has been blessed to never know what can happen to someone they love because of a vaccine reaction. Ignorance is bliss. What are the author's credentials to say what is being spoken about is "misinformation"?

glowg1rl @rubiesandradishes shows what you know. My shot records match my sons it's just longer. I'm from another country. One that has had the "test" shots of the vaccines. Yes, there are some where the children had pass due to the MMR vaccine. The only thing we can come up with is that the parents are closely related. I've had to get the same shots with higher dosage because I've gotten the mumps, measles, and chiken pox after have said vaccine. The worst was the chicken pox. My husband and I are two different races. That said, my son is fine. Strong. I plan on giving him his vaccines. Doctors can't treat certain illnesses if they aren't up to date. Like I said, sorry to those who's children have gotten sick/ dead from vaccines. I have yet to hear child had died from one here in the US. It's a parent's choice. So I hope everyone just prepares for the effects of the choices they make whether or not to vaccinate. My child is fine.

cyoke_hinz @time sorry but I @believemothers If you’re asking me to trust the corrupt WHO, EPA, CDC, FDA, NIH or any other government agency that takes money from industry- you’ve got another thing coming. Journalism died a long time ago. And Jeffrey Kruger is just another sheep. We will not be silenced so by all means keep spreading the lies because in the end the truth will prevail. And can someone please tell me what is it exactly that all these movements against mandated va((ines have to gain by spreading your so called “misinformation”? These are families destroyed. Families who did what the CDC recommends. What their pediatrician recommends and then their child was either injured or died. Why would anyone be so passionate about speaking out if not to save other children and families from the same horrific tragedy. Ask yourself what Pharma has to gain/lose? BILLIONS. Wake up people!

time.for.sunshine Just read the vaccine insert. It will tell you in the manufacturers own words every adverse effect and reaction. Then make your decision.. most people aren't anti-vax.. wouldn't we all want to protect our children from illness. Problem is that many parents have trusted these vaccines and lost their children as a direct result, from side effects clearly listed in the vaccine leaflet. It is common sense really. If any other product were to admit it had a risk causing death stated in it's packaging it would be pulled from the market. Instead vaccine manufacturers were made immune from any legal liability in 1986. Why was that necessary if they are safe??
