James Mashburn, left, and Robert Wilson at Finishline in Oklahoma City. “I’m not ashamed of who I am," says Mashburn. "I’m comfortable with myself and if someone isn’t comfortable with me that’s their problem.” Fifty years after the #Stonewall riots, TIME commissioned photographers across America to document #LGBTQ bars throughout June. @gary_squirrel I am sorry you feel that way and I get it. I used to feel the same until choose to face what I hated with open eyes heart and mind. And prayed that if there is a God, like the one Christians believe in then show me who you are. I sat in church wanting to yell bc I didn’t agree with the pastor about marriage. And he said if you are uncomfortable with what I’m saying just think about about it, pray about it and it’s been 7 years and I still don’t know how to feel about it but God has revealed his love he has for everyone to me and experienced a peace so in describable that typically only those who have experienced it understand. I pray you find that peace too. I just hope this can be discussed with respect on both sides. I assume you assume I hold certain beliefs bc I am a Christian and that possibly I hate you, however I don’t and I hope you don’t assume I do. I hope you find the peace I have only been able to find in Christ.

@kathryn_heim That’s not exactly what I asked. However, marriage is actually a religious union. So I’m just not sure why people, that seem to not like the religions that created marriage want to impose their beliefs on those who want to have boundaries. I believe in Jesus. And I still have problems with the church, and I have close gay friends who I love and support them in anything that they choose to do. I am not here to be anyone’s judge. I just think this topic needs to be discussed with respect on both sides.

Fire of hell awaits all LGBTQ people unless they repent and confess of their sins. Gods law is clear. That’s why sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. Archeological records prove that these cities existed and were destroyed by brimstone and sulphur, the Bible says why this happened.

@deerhunter0682 it's not about not thinking like me. It's when they make racist comments, when they threaten, bully or harass. I understand no two people think alike, but it doesn't give anyone an excuse to act like that, whether you're behind a computer screen or not

So many “bros”, religious zealots and just plain trolls in here.....all closet cases. Remember fellas, when you’re ready to come out, we will all love you and welcome you. #loveislove

Support for LGBTQ spaces (be they bars, safe spaces, etc) is so important in areas like okc. I spend my summers in Oklahoma city and it makes a world of difference for residents here
