@motocyclops I appreciate the thoughtful response. So, from what I’ve read and watched, corporations on average only paid about 18% of the 35% because their attorneys find ways for them to pay less. Then with this even lower tax rate they bought back their stocks and barely raised wages. The average person doesn’t own stock. I don’t own stock, so you can’t measure the economy based on how well the stock market is doing. The tax breaks may have helped very small business owners a bit but it didn’t help individuals or families much. Deregulation is never good. That’s how we end up with toxins in our food and water. So building deregulation only makes me think contractors will cut corners leaving shit unsafe. My boyfriend does construction and has told me that it happens with building regulations imagine without or less. In my area of Brooklyn which is predominantly rich Jewish families they use the same contractor to build or renovate the homes. I notice all the workers are Mexican or of South American decent. I won’t assume they are all undocumented but I’m sure some of them are which tells me that they are paying the least possible amount they can. So these jobs that are coming from these tax breaks are not going to workers that are requesting top pay.

@lm_female_cowboysfan The word latino is a Spanish word that has entered the English language. In Spanish, it means someone belonging to the people of ancient Latium, in Italy, whose language was Latin; so the Romans of course were latinos. Another and related meaning of latino in Spanish refers to someone who belongs to the cultures of the Romance Languages, that is, those peoples whose language, and to a varying extent, whose culture, too, derive from the language and civilization of Rome, which was latin. Among these Romance languages are Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Rumanian. Therefore, all Italians, Frenchmen, Spaniards, Rumanians, and Portuguese, as well as all those Latin Americans whose language is Spanish or Portuguese (an English-speaking person from Jamaica would not qualify) are latinos.

@spring_is_here415 Okay, if corporations only paid 18% and regulations work, why was Obama’s economy so horrible? Trump got rid of certain regulations and cut taxes and the construction economy is booming.
Any contractor who cuts corners is not an honorable contractor. Most contractors will cut corners because it will cost them their license. Here in Los Angeles, no worker, illegal or not, will demand $160 per day. plus lunch. That’s $20 per hour plus lunch.
Now as for the stock market, most people’s retirement, 401k, pension, etc is in the stock market. If stock market is doing great, there is extra money in their retirement, which people withdraw cash hire a contractor to repair or remodel their house.
Anyways, good luck to you. God bless. I appreciate your argument without any insults.??

@spring_is_here415 Okay, I am a general contractor in the construction industry. So I will explain what’s happening. Trumps Tax Cut and Job Act along with decrease in federal corporate income tax rate from 35% to 21% has been very beneficial for small businesses. Deregulations has also made it easier to build. Stock market is high which gives confidence and people aren’t afraid to spend savings. With tax cuts and deregulations contractors can hire more labor (jobs). Lastly, if congress would get their shit together and pass Trump’s infrastructure proposal, Trump’s policies can work even better for the construction industry.

@motocyclops I think it’s unfair to say it was horrible especially given the mess he came into. Obama ran on hope and change but ended up a corporatist. He governed more like a moderate republican. The economy got better under him but because democrats are always worried about bipartisanship they didn’t take advantage when hey were in the majority. Anyway here a decent clip that touches on his economic achievements good for some bad for others. Wages are still stagnant under trump. Thanks for the discourse. Have a good one. https://youtu.be/h5P7zrYD6PQ

@c_delgado89 I don’t think he necessarily wants his followers to vote for him. I think as he stated in the caption that he wants him to make the September debates. I thought he performed well and added to the debate. So for example, I would vote Bernie for sure and I donate monthly to his campaign. But I also think it’s important to hear progressive candidates like Tulsi and her anti war message at the debates so I contribute a little something to her campaign monthly too even though she has no chance of winning.
