PART 7

For the first few seconds I didn’t know what to do or say.
I get that people get ‘air sick’ but he was talking way too much before the accident.
The vomit smelt of alcohol and had rice mixed with some other things that I couldn’t pick out.
It felt like the vomit was going to leave a permanent smell on my shirt.
Passenger : I beg you. Forgive me
Nobs : It’s okay ( No it wasn’t okay, I was livid but there was no way I could say that)
Air hostess : Sir, do you mind I’d help you with some towels?
Nobs : I think I’m going to step out to clean it up.
Air Hostess : Let me help you clean it a bit.
Nobs : Okay,fine.
Passenger : Please,I’ll pay for the dry cleaning.
Nobs : It’s okay. You don’t have to
Passenger: Please let me pay or buy you a new shirt.
Nobs : I’m really okay
The air hostess tried to clean a bit of the vomit with a napkin but if felt a lot sticky so I stood up, took my hand luggage and walked to the bathroom.

On getting to the bathroom,I quickly took off the shirt including my inner vest, rolled them into a disposable bag and forced it down the bin.
I took a fresh shirt from my bag, washed my hands severally and then walked back to seat.

Passenger: I’m really sorry.
Nobs : It’s okay .
Passenger: I get air sick but I hardly throw up.
Nobs : It’s okay. I’m fasting, let me pray. * I wasn’t fasting but I needed him to stop talking so I closed my eyes and pretended that I was praying so he could leave me alone.
Couple of minutes later, we landed in Lagos*

Passenger : Please let me have your number so we can keep in touch.
Nobs : It’s **************
Passenger: Da Allah, I’m so sorry.

I took my hand luggage and headed out into the hot Lagos sun.

Back then, my Lagos accommodation was at my cousin’s cousin house- Oga Uche.
Oga Uche is a business man at Idumota and stayed in one room in Aguda Surulere.
I had stayed with him at a time I did my compulsory one year industrial attachment in Lagos.

The room was big enough to fit one bed and boxes, but a bit small for the four of us staying with him.
We shared a kitchen and bathroom with a couple who were also staying in the same flat.
The room was the first place it happened ..

ogeonuorah Remembered the time a friend threw up.... was shocked, didn't know what to do, to cry, hit or jump out.
