Photo by @kevinfaingnaert | Writer Gabriel García Márquez’s brand of magical realism was inspired partly by Ciénaga, a town in the department of Magdalena, Colombia. Located on the Caribbean Sea near the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Ciénaga is notable for the divers.

This is the reality, I am from there. A lot of poor people and the government put all the money in their packets and they don't do anything for this department, we don't have good hospitals, people are starving. Magdalena and the choco department are the most poor departments in Colombia

I love Colombia, But Marquez never did anything for his country or his home town, poor people in the situation for decades while he was living and partying with Castro en Cuba and all his books and rights are not for the Colombian people but for an university here in North America.

Actually, It is not as cool as it seems. This picture reflects the deep poverty and inequity which is around lot of towns in Colombia. There are many reasons to this situation but sadly goverment's corruption is the most.

Definetely not the same place from the time of Garcia Marquez. A lot has change for the worse although other parts of Colombia has seen an improvement like Medellin.
