Today on Magnum: On the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch, we look back at @burtglinnphoto's images of spectators at Cape Canaveral as they turned their gaze skywards. Link in bio.

@fojo0404 the reason we can post on social media is because of the moon landing. Scientists and engineers were forced to miniaturize everything, including the computers. That led to the eventual proliferation of the personal computer and ultimately to that little device in your hand. It literally changed the world.

I feel like the moon landing would have been more significant if it had led to something else, instead of just being a end in itself. It's great that the technology exists to put a human on the moon and bring them home safely, amazing. But it's like we went to the moon and then we were like, alright, we're done.

That's an amazing photo. I love the negative space. The helicopter becomes part of the group of observers which makes sense as well. ✌?

That’s pure art, turning around while something like that is happening and capture people watching it ??

@fojo0404 your point is well taken, though. We should have kept reaching for the stars.
