The deacon Mitchell Reels didn’t trust the courts, so he didn’t write a will. Instead, he let his family’s 65 acres of land become heirs’ property. “Whatever you do,” Reels told his family on the night that he died, “don’t let the white man have the land.” Years later, loopholes in the law allowed the property to be taken from Reels’s grandsons. When the brothers resisted, they wound up behind bars. @ericrose4x5 no it’s not and your comments are offensive. If you’ve experienced issues personally, I’m sorry to hear that but it’s not a “white” system. I work with nonwhites who are professionals, make excellent wages, are highly respected and promoted based on their experience. I live in neighborhood with nonwhites who have nice homes, take care of them and are great neighbors. Please stop adding to the ignorance.

@jedinurse6 you’re not entirely correct. There was injustice and land taken from white people too. The corruption did set alone with nonwhite races. It’s all terrible and wrong. And I’m kind of tired of hearing about the “white” man being evil. THOSE particular people at that time were evil.

@pfdarling you honestly don’t seem to have read beyond the headline. This is theft, pure and simple. The tenants sited were obvious fictions but a white judge allowed it and didn’t even inform the actual landowners until it was far too late.

@la___ni And you know this about me based on an exchange on Instagram? I think before drawing that kind of sweeping conclusion you need more information. Here’s an alternative— I listen as well as you do, but I disagree. Why personalize this?
