jaclyn7683 My dad was part of the team of Rockwell Collins engineers and technicians (based out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA) that successfully acquired and tracked NTS-II, the 1st Satellite Vehicle that carried a GPS signal package. A message was decoded, a string of AAAAs, to verify to the US DOD of this successfully reaching this milestone in the development of the GPS system. It would be years before a constellation of GPS satellites would be on station in a ~ 12 hour obit around the earth to support GPS navigation. As my dad says “to those of us that were there that night, this date will always bring back memories of the event.” You may already know all that but if not, thought you’d find it fun and interesting. ???
