That I allow the thoughts and emotions that swim around in my psyche and heart space to pour out through the pen and onto the paper. That I don’t try to keep these free thoughts and fluid emotions caged; but instead, allow them to be as they sometimes are — wild and unruly. Raw and provocative. - And so I write. Sometimes, it’s a stifled line or two, while others, I cannot get my hand to dictate my inner world fast enough. - Through this expression I’ve come to recognize that what I think and how I feel in each moment only becomes my reality if I choose to latch onto them. I can look back in my pages and see the spontaneous variety of thought and intensity of emotion. I can see how, at that moment, it was my truth, only to be replaced by another in the following days or weeks. It is through this practice, and through reading books like “The Power Of Now”, “The Untethered Soul”, and currently, “The Mastery of Self”, that I’ve realized I only experience pain and suffering when I accept these thoughts and feelings as truth. When I attach to them, I then begin to code them into my belief system, and eventually, my entire human experience is influenced through this prism of perceived truth. If the thoughts and emotions are negative, I have a negatively colored experience. If they are positive, and I latch on too tightly, I then suffer when they are no longer in my field of experience. It has become a daily practice to remind myself, “I am not my thoughts.” “I am not this emotion.” “I am simply she who is experiencing and witnessing these things.” Depression is an emotion that most people cycle through in life. Feelings of hopelessness and despair are common, even if for a fleeting moment, after a human experiences loss, grief, or trauma. I can see how pain and suffering occurs when I believe the idea that “I am depressed” instead of recognizing that I am experiencing a wave of depression. Belief is a powerful construct. It has started wars, inspires revolution, defines cultures, impacts biology, and shapes identities. Questioning mine has begun to open doors... - And so... I write.📝」7月21日 23時56分 - nicole_mejia

That I allow the thoughts and emotions that swim around in my psyche and heart space to pour out through the pen and onto the paper.
That I don’t try to keep these free thoughts and fluid emotions caged; but instead, allow them to be as they sometimes are — wild and unruly. Raw and provocative.
