I try hard not to go to the touristy spots when I travel but sometimes like a magnet they draw you in. On any given day during the day there might be thirty to two hundred people out here photographing the Wanaka tree or taking selfies in front of the Wanaka tree. My hotel was just up the beach from this site, so I decided if I am going to photograph it I will go out at 2 am and capture it under the stars. I was the only one out there freezing my buns off and taking photos that night. With a little light painting (using a small flashlight) I was able to highlight the tree. I have seen a lot of images of this tree thanks to Instagram and I have to say many of them are pretty epic, which is why I gave in and went out that night. #thatwanakatree #wanaka #newzealand」7月26日 13時02分
