Once upon a time in Hollywood. In the spring of 1979, my parents took nearly-nine-year-old me, my brother Donald, and my sister @virginia_in_vienna on a train trip to sunny California! As a big movie and TV fan, this was Heaven for me (though not *too* much Heaven, as the @beegees sang). 40 years later, I live in the Hollywood Hills, not far from the same area of the @hwdwalkoffame seen in this pic. And while I also still wear shorts around Hollywood (and everywhere else), I’ve long-since abandoned socks. It only took me a few decades to go from visitor to resident, so be careful where you bring your kids on family vacations: it could shape the rest of their lives. #KevinSmith #hollywood #walkoffame #1979

This is so inspirational for me. My name is Karla and ive dreamt large for a while now. Ive always wanted to join the industry and work on movies, tv, and comics that i enjoyed growing up. Pop culture has always been a large part of my life and when i got old enough to realize that was never going to change i knew i had to work hard to make it my career someday. Ive always pictured myself in the world of CW or WB. I used to think.. impossible... But now i know i want it bad enough to one day make my hobby a legitimate career. To see incredibly talented, wonderful people (like yourself) contribute to the art that is pop culture is what inspires me to want to do the same. And especially after a post like this. Thank you, Kevin, for making my dream feel reachable. You truly motivate me not to give up on that dream. @thatkevinsmith #kevinsmith

This couldn't be further from the truth! The past two years my daughters and I have attended a National Congress (for high achieving students) in Massachusetts, now they both plan on moving to the East Coast to attend school and live out their lives... Kinda sad for my Native California ass, but I totally understand. They love the vibe and the "San Francisco" like weather of Boston & Salem (in particular), so I can relate to shaping our children's lives with family trips! Thanks for the share Mr. Smith!

I went to Hollywood last summer. Stayed in Hawthorne (yeah not the greatest area). I was not a fan. I got rear ended twice in the same day all while sitting still. It nothing major, only love taps but both times the assholes (both women) cussed me like it was my fault. Nobody can drive there.

Lucky but I still love Jersey. I admire your professional achievements and happy you have such a cool family and are a good friends. If you ever need an assistant or an assistance to the Best Boy... holler at me

@aaaaaronidtap. What'd the east coast ever do to you? (to 95% of Californians that aren't douchebags: I'm sorry for such a broad generalization. To the other 2 million: I hope you get eaten by a shark.)

Man, that’s the equivalent of getting a woman’s name tattooed on your body. I bet Hollywood wishes a friend had been around to talk them out of that one.
