Bogus applications. Forged ACT tests. Dubious extracurriculars polished to a sheen. In the end, 33 parents had been swept up in the college admissions bribery scheme: "We all thought our kids were going to be collateral damage," one parent at the Brentwood School says of the scandal. "We are the category that's going to get completely fucked." Evgenia Peretz reports on the continued fallout at the #linkinbio.

Praying for all of those parents and students. A lot of people are “paying” for their kids to get into top schools or even themselves. “Donations” is what they say it is but it’s really a do me a favor I’ll do you one. I wish people stop with all the self-righteous nonsense and the I’m a college administrator blah blah. People lives are about to be taken. We can at least have compassion at this point.

epic parent fail, explains why so many people expect so much for so little while the rest of us have to struggle in blood, sweat and tears to get where we need to go....I hope the consequences for this lot prevents others from doing it....I know they have been doing it since the beginning of time....time to stop

Okay why is this an issue now? I mean why has this only surfaced recently. It’s a widely known but not said practice between parents and reps from schools... but why did this only recently become such a big issue. .
.
*yes it’s illegal I know that. But why has it only recently been a public issuev

There are parents who transfer guardianship of their children to poorer relatives just to qualify for the maximum financial aid. The whole admissions system is a scam. When 90%+ of your institution’s students need financial aid, that’s nothing to be proud of. It’s a disgrace.

It’s a horrible situation bad choices , what examples are they showing their kids!! puts everyone in a bad light ! Other kids that could have been accepted by their own merits left out of great educational experience. Sad...

I went to a hard, American, top ten university academically and I wonder, what makes these parents think their children will succeed in a university they can’t get into on their own merit? It would be hard for them.
