I wanted to recognize and thank the kids from @prideforyouth in the youth clinic held by the @humanrightscampaign @hrcgreaterny. I spent just a few hours with these kids (15 to 19 years old...so not really kids😅) and it was honestly one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. I was supposed to be there to teach them. But they were the ones teaching me. The passion and enthusiasm for living their truth is so inspiring to me. I was so amazed at how loving and open they all were at such a young age. They were just totally themselves. Their bravery and honesty brought tears to my eyes. I've never had the privilege to be in an environment like that and it really opened my eyes to see how important it is to be educated about gender preferences/identifications and creating spaces where our youth is able to explore, learn, and grow. With being gay and mainly experiencing that part of our community, it's sometimes difficult to grasp the other parts of it. But through this experience I've been able to have a better understanding of that and why visibility is so important. After hitting balls, we sat in a circle and talked about many different topics and they basically interrogated me. 🙄😂 But one of the things I remember that was said was "I'm weird". (Excuse my language but) All I have to say is BE F**KING WEIRD...IT'S BEAUTIFUL. So be proud. Be honest. Be vulnerable. Be visible. Keep being yourself because it's awesome! If any of you kids read this, I just want to personally thank you for teaching me so much and making me a better person. This is our future.
