I was at the Hooker Telescope on Mount Wilson in Los Angeles during this almost full moon night. This 100-inch reflector (2.5-meter aperture) was the world's largest telescope from its completion in 1917 to 1949, when the Mount Palomar 200-inch telescope became operational. The Hooker contributed to science immensely. This is where Edwin Hubble proved the existence of other galaxies beyond the Milky Way and later discovered the expansion of the universe.
