National Geographic Travelさんのインスタグラム写真 - (National Geographic TravelInstagram)「In the Andean countries of South America, the whole month of August is a time to celebrate and honor the life-giving power of Pachamama or Mother Earth. It is the coldest winter month in the southern hemisphere and a time when rural Andean communities are at their most vulnerable. In many different rituals and traditions across South America, communities honor the earth that provides for them and ask for protection of crops and livestock. I want to celebrate the enduring culture and legacy of the Andean people of the Americas, and all indigenous peoples across the world who honor, worship, and strive to live in harmony with the natural world and who understand that by taking care of the earth, her bounty will sustain us. In this photo, Quechua women in Chinchero, in the Sacred Valley of Peru, prepare a traditional communal meal made from crops harvested in local fields. We all need to honor and take better care of our one mother, this fragile, beautiful earth.
