What now seems like a common tourist stop was once a great adventure during the early years looking for new waves along this stretch of coast. In many ways it still is for anyone that puts on a 5mm wetsuit & 7mm gloves to wrangle a North Atlantic beach break this powerful. I remember laughing once after a particular hairy session that while we were near drowning & getting hypothermic there was someone enjoying warm lamb soup & a coffee less than a 1/4 mile away at a gas station... wouldn’t trade places tho, some of the best times of my life.

Chris! No! We just missed you guys, and saw you drive off from the hot dog place! Wanted to quickly say hi! Been following you since my first day on Instagram, and I’m a huge fan. Could I also just take this opportunity to congratulate you on the Wow Cyclothon? It’s our first time on Iceland, and now that we’ve seen first hand what this weather can do (and how long the one road is); huge huge respect man! Do you ever feel that documenting these spots and sharing them widely on social media is contributing to the increased flow of people? I’m not trying to cast blame and wanting only to share an honest opinion, but to me this caption screams, “it’s a bummer this spot is blown up after so many people saw such amazing photos of epic barrels in scenic locations... #whatdidweexpect”

While jumping over the edge, one truly feels alive. you only live once. Last year I got pulled out by the current fighting my way back to the shore. I was terrified first, then excited,... those oceans can be tricky

@brianmartinwarren i mean isnt the whole point to share an awesome experience? Understandably u dont want people littering trashing the place etc but i mean the main joy has to be in sharing no?
