I first I debated posting this but then it also didn’t seem right to ignore what my family‘s been through and just keep posting another pretty photo.
Aug 1 I woke up to a call at 3 am to tell me I need to go find my mother she’s been in a terrible accident. I called my stepdad who is a Marine he told me it sounded like a tornado but the sky was so bright he thought we are under attack it just had to be a nuclear bomb. The dog had been barking and whimpering so my mother got up and that’s when she seen the fire when she screamed for my stepdad to put his pants on before they can get their clothes on the whole house was on fire it’ll literally melting like a candle right in front of their eyes. My stepdad said he thought they were trapped in there is no way out and he was for sure jumping to their own death. But my mother just kept insisting that they run and go. They jumped into what seem like a tornado of fire to escape the melting house and ran a quarter of a mile it was so hot that it was literally boiling her skin. A Commercial gas pipe line had exploded 200 feet from her house. They had rush her to the hospital for third-degree burns. When I get to the hospital she was in nothing but a pair of underwear and a hospital gown with a blanket wrapped over her. Her clothes have been destroyed 6 inches of her hair have been burned off.
I was in town to see my 5 day old nephew. We’re from a very small town everyone knows everyone I have family that works for the gas company and fire department it was emotional for everyone! They lost everything I mean everything!! Their house and cars burned to the ground! The shirt she had on her back was even destroyed. My mothers house was closest to the explosion yet somehow by miracle they got out unfortunately one of their neighbors did lose their life. Three days later my grandfather passed away unexpectedly. This week has been a nightmare my mom has literally walked through the fires of hell and in just 28 days I get married. My family is in a lot of pain but we’re also glad we have each other. The community has been amazing support for us! we would have not got through this without our family, friends and community.
