Musk claimed Tesla would go private and buyout investors at $420 per share. Though Musk later said he’d been in talks with the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund and felt confident the funding would come through — well, we all know how that turned out.⁠⠀ ⠀

The tweet resulted in charges from the SEC, with Musk and Tesla both paying $20 million in civil penalties.⁠

The stock today is trading at about $230 per share.
