Just recorded a very personal podcast around setting boundaries. I’ve been pretty crap at it for most of my life but getting better and better at protecting my energy as I grow older. One area where I still struggle is here on Instagram. So... Just in case there is confusion of any kind: I think Donald Trump is an absolute SHIT HEAD and I genuinely don’t want people in support of his racist and misogynistic rhetoric in this space. At all. Hard line. You are all free to go! Also, I am 100% pro choice and against medical circumstances forced on us by the government. Fuck your abortion ban. Black lives matter. Trans rights are human rights. Support indigenous communities. Believe women. Gun control NOW. Fuck Trump! Oh, and eat plants🌱🙃
Just felt the need to very clearly state my opinions and set some boundaries. If you keep your yoga contained to your mat and continue to bypass human rights you are not a yogi - you’re just stretching, while wearing yoga pants. Yoga is union. Oneness! Fight for it. Every damn day. x

I enjoy listening to your podcast-- as you're super raw and insightful. Always can take bits and pieces and apply them to daily life. I really hope you can deeply think about what you're saying here. Everyone deserves a chance in this world irregardless of their views and beliefs. People are still growing. It's very close-minded to truly believe that ALL people should think the same. The most beautiful part about humanity is our differences. The most mature and humble thing you can do is celebrate those differences and try to understand / constantly cultivate new healthy ideas. Having difficult and important conversations with people you don't agree with is how we truly evoke change and come together. Most of what you're saying has been spoon fed by algorithms and the media and we all know you're WAY wiser than that propaganda. Still sending love, because I know you'll re-hash this topic with a fresh perspective. Hopefully one that can bring people together.

@emma_markert Oneness doesn’t mean you have to be nice to everyone and let everyone in; it just means you recognize that we are all connected and you respect other people’s humanity. Boundaries are for your own emotional/physical/mental/spiritual protection. Say you have a friend who always makes you feel drained and upset even after you’ve tried to talk to them—do you continue to keep this person in your life because “we’re all one” or do you distance yourself because you need to protect your own well-being? Cutting them off doesn’t mean you don’t love them, doesn’t mean you don’t have compassion for them, doesn’t mean you don’t want the best for them. Just means you’re taking care of yourself. You contribute to oneness by being as kind a person as you can, but never at the expense of your own well-being—because that’s not being kind to yourself.

We are all the same. This entire caption is alienating and divisive and you throw the word unity into the last sentence as if this is somehow not a fear based dualistic separation due to your ego. You refuse to look into who owns the media you rely on for your information. What advertisers are paying for your nightly news? Or your Slate & Huff Post articles? Whatever news source that you trust & believe is giving you reliable information- ask yourself: what would they tell you about vaccines, vaccine injury and the Vaccine Injury Compensation Act? Would they proclaim the tired marketing mantra of “vaccines are safe & effective”? If you can’t trust them to tell you the truth about big pharma, why trust any of their other information? You bleed propaganda.

Waking up to the injustices of the world and processing that out in ourselves and dealing with the helplessness and the anger surrounding it is a scary fucking feeling. And sometimes in that process whilst we’re getting used to it, we get angry, we set our boundaries more tightly and put them up higher because it just gets too much, it’s a painful and difficult process for those of us that decide to start fighting oppression in society, and sometimes we can’t always be so open minded to views that are causing so much trauma in the world today. Got to catch a break sometimes. We’re all human and so is Rachael, and it may not be in line with her normal voice but she is human too and going through the same scary process and journey as the rest of us.

I have followed you for years enjoying your posts and your beautiful family grow. But you are not a US citizen and do not live anywhere near here. Sitting on the beach far from reality must be nice, but unfortunately in the real world most of us bust our ass working and struggling. Yoga is a way I escape in a very busy Chicago city. And reality is very much IN MY FACE. So are black lives especially in Chicago! You know NOTHING. So disappointing and I will do just what you asked. I will continue to “stretch” in my yoga pants and enjoy not seeing you as I scroll through feed anymore.

Trump is a terrible human being, there’s just no excusing him. This is your space and you can say whatever you want. I think it’s really important to speak powerfully and bravely, especially against hate. Tip toeing around, afraid to make any waves, trying to please everybody, it’s just not why you’re here. You know that already. I don’t always agree with what you post, I don’t always agree with what some of my best friends post! We’ll never agree with anyone 100%, so I guess why the eff not put it all out there? You’re doing it right Rachel ❤️
