Noel Gallagher talked to us about crafting the perfect setlist and touring with Smashing Pumpkins. “I say to people, it’s not an Oasis gig,” he tells us. “Oasis is done. If you missed them, that’s fucking tough luck.” Tap the link in our bio to read the full story. Photograph by Maria Laura Antonelli/Shutterstock

@chrismassoncreates I agree with you that this is all opinion based but Eric Clapton would tell you himself that Stevie Ray was better. That’s not really an opinion, the opinion would be you like Eric Clapton’s music better. I could make a small living doing Eric Clapton covers but touching a Stevie Ray song and doing it justice is another story. Jimi played with a lot of effects and had his own really cool style but couldn’t touch SRV on a technical level. He couldn’t play those same notes cleanly. Stevie is the GOAT period. Do you know Doc Watson? Have you ever listened to bluegrass. Did you know he was the founding father of flat picking bluegrass? He could play a bass line and at same time pick the lead better than anyone ever has. He made his guitar sound like two people playing and was the first to do it and isn’t in @rollingstone top 100 guitarists list lol Kurt Cobain is number 12 just to reiterate.

@chrismassoncreates yea please look him up his guitar playing was impressive. He started what is now one of the largest if not the largest bluegrass festival in the world in Merlefest which he named after his son who passed away who he played with since Merle was old enough. This festival is in his hometown of Wilkesboro NC Doc actually born and raised in Deep Gap NC just right up the road. I recommend you try to attend Merlefest if you ever can. The fact he was left off of @rollingstone top 100 guitarists means to me that they just forgot about bluegrass being a genre of music. I love Kurt Cobain he was a huge inspiration to me so when I say he is 12 and doc not in the top 100 I’m not downing Kurt in any way it’s just proof that these guys voted on who they like and not actually who could play guitar better lol

It's not about "missing" Oasis, it's about hearing the songs that you love. It doesn't matter what band Noel wrote the songs in, they're still his songs. Oasis may be done, but he should never forget where he came from, and he wouldn't be where he is today if it wasn't for Oasis. It's not about being stuck in the past, its about paying respect to the fans that have stayed by him since Oasis THROUGH his solo career. To say what he said is basically a middle finger to all those fans who supported him throughout the years.

@_mozman_ lol I know I know I’m sorry. But @rollingstone absolutely tripping with this top 100 greatest guitarists of all time. I guess Duane Allman is a better guitarist than Stevie Ray Vaughn and Kurt Cobain is the 12th best guitarist of all time when these guys obviously have never heard of Doc Watson. If you’ve never heard of Doc Watson you are not qualified to make a list of the top 100 guitarists of all time. He’s one of the greats and not even on this list. 🤦♀️

@tywilliams152 in all fairness mate, you weren’t there. I approached Noel and Gem the way I would a mate in the street, casually friendly, Gem was quite happy to chat, said “Hi” to Noel and he literally took off down the stairs. Now I’ve been around long enough to know the difference between being socially awkward and rude; and that was definitely the latter.

@bowl_cut_beats oh I know. As talented as Clapton is, there’s a few guys like Hendrix and SRV that have intimidated him over the years. As for Kurt, I love him because of how accessible he made guitar music (to me personally), but I’d rank the likes of Mike McCready, Jerry Cantrell, Kim Thayill etc ahead of him. Lol
