The children’s smiles were the best part of our trip to Zambia with @worldvisionusa!!! We traveled with 3 extra huge suitcases full of goodies including clothes, shoes, toys, games, hats, feminine hygiene and a few special things to give away. Here are some of the photos of Angela and a bunch of other amazing village kids enjoying the gifts we brought along. It was my hope to bring things of necessity as well as to just bring joy. Everyday I wore 2-3 cross bracelets from home and gave each one away to a different child. They each looked at them like a special treasure they were given. Here are Angela and our sponsor child Vera receiving theirs. The @nerdscandy company also sent me 18lbs of sweeties 🍬to share and they went over huge when there were lots of kids and we didn’t have enough shoes or hats for them all. They all LOVED getting the little boxes that rattled and once we showed them that they opened to candy, even the adults were thrilled. I will never forget those smiles on those precious faces. And my mom fell so in love with Angela’s photo that she is now sponsoring her. ✨
The first pic I have the bracelet on but the next two, you can see Angela holding it on her arm.

@melissajoanhart what the fuck are you giving African children cancer food for! You know damn well your country suffers obesity and cancer because of poison like candy 🍭 and many more factors! People like you can’t be trusted in Africa with our children! But we as African People, African Women and African Mothers we will find greater solutions for ourselves and our children and never have to have you devils on our African soil playing white saviour! If you are truly a concern citizen of the world for doing good, why not address racism issues in your country and try and dismantle that and try to heal those who suffer greatly under your racist system of white supremacy in your country. And if you sincerely care for children who are poor why not go help children in the USA in camps and many more who are racially systematically set up for poverty! Mark this words written on your public platform that YOU WILL CONTINUE DOING THIS BULLSHIT AGAIN ON OUR AFRICA AGAIN, stay away from our continent and our lives ✊🏿🌍✊🏿

i see that you think you’ve done some incredible charitable act by passing out bracelets and giving children candy, but I beg of you...please consider each of these children as children worthy of dignity and respect, not props for your Instagram photo. giving away things is not aid. education, training, tools, and advocacy is aid. the people of Zambia are owed our money, time, and resources because western powers colonized their land and stole their resources for decades. the people of Zambia are owed our gratitude and respect for the contributions they’ve shared with the world. i’m not trying to be hateful, i’m honestly just shocked that this felt appropriate because it is so exploitative and selfish and i’m so embarrassed for you @melissajoanhart @worldvision.

I went on a trip to Malawi with World Vision and had pics taken just like these. I felt so icky the whole time I was there. The pit in my stomach that I was doing harm didn’t leave the whole time. We Americans brought plastic crap that wasn’t needed and had no skills to actually help. It would have been more efficient and made more of an impact for me to have donated the $3,000 it cost to fly me over and house me. I immediately discontinued my sponsorship. I will never support a US-based, white-led program again overseas again.

@melissajoanhart, just stop being white🤦🏼♀️apparently we are all bad! You can’t win. If you don’t do anything for the greater good, it’s because you are white. If you do, it’s because you’re white and evil. You put yourself on here, so I assume you are ready for the good and the bad. Honestly I don’t care what people think. I kinda wished I did, sometimes 🤷♀️ do your good how you want. Doesn’t matter what others think. Most people aren’t doing anything to help people, animals, or the planet. I find they complain the most.

This made me cry! So sweet of you and your family. I’m going to go ahead and apologize for all these hateful comments. Anything to these children is a blessing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a treat to brighten there day in addition to all the other items you brought them. Tell your son the sweets were a great idea for a gift from one child to another child. Bless your family ❤️

Please take a second to look up ‘white saviour complex’. This is sadly the epitome of exactly that, as are many of the comments here. Folks, please understand how icky (there truly isn’t a better word) it comes across when you speak about your charitable work/donations. *Waits patiently for the, “There’s always one,” comments*
