The U.S. budget deficit got a lot bigger, according to recent government figures.⁠

The deficit widened another $199,700,000,000, about a 27% increase over a year ago, largely because of increased spending on health care and the military.⁠
⁠
That brings the fiscal year deficit to $866,800,000,000, just 18 months after the Trump administration ushered through a $1,500,000,000,000 tax cut.⁠

And the Treasury Department doesn’t think the expansion will stop soon — it projected the deficit will be over $1,000,000,000,000 by the end of the fiscal year.⁠

werbsruth Wait so did I read this right there was a 1.5 trillion tax cut ? And the deficit is up 199 billion. If that’s the case this is a nothing story since you can recoup this position by an slight adjustment to the taxes giveaway.
