It had the wonderful nickname of “Gutless” because of how underpowered the twin engine jet was. If you look at when it entered service, it stayed active for so long because of how the turbine powered days were brand new and this thing was cutting edge at that time. Unlike today when it takes 15 years to go from design to build, to test, to delivery. .
