Did you know that Taronga has been involved in conservation work for the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater since the early 90s? ⠀

A crucial aspect of the national Regent Honeyeater Recovery Program is creating future habitat to support the wild population of birds. The Capertee Valley is an important stronghold for the Regents, and one of the few known breeding sites for this species.⠀

Last weekend a team of more than 50 volunteers from Taronga rolled up their sleeves and planted 2000 trees in the Capertee Valley 🍃🌱⠀

The site was adjacent to the 2004 tree planting site and it was so great to see how those trees have grown into habitat. ⠀

debsdotcom I don't usually support zoos as I believe all wildlife should live in their natural habitat, the WILD, but your conservation efforts are changing my way of thinking, somewhat! I would like to see a future without bars, but we need to look at other alternatives for the survival of many species.
