On #WomensEqualityDay, we stopped by the @metdrawingsandprints department to take a peek at the Supersisters! 💥 Published in 1979, the Supersisters trading cards series was created by Lois Rich, whose 8-year-old daughter—a baseball-card collector—asked her mom why there weren't any pictures of girls on the cards.⁣ Rich was inspired to do something. ⁣⁣

With a grant from the New York State Education Department, Rich and her sister Barbara Egerman contacted 500 women of achievement and created cards of the first 72 to respond, ordered by who responded first. ⁣⁣⁣

Shirley Chisholm, Gloria Steinem, Rosa Parks, Katherine Graham, Bella Abzug, Margaret Mead—these are just a few of the women featured on the cards. 👆 Check out our Story to see more. ⁣⁣⁣
