He acted like just about any other 3.5 year old, shy at first and then slowly began interacting, playing, laughing with us. But his wounds are go beyond what you can see. He was burnt in a strike in Syria when he was just a baby. He, his two siblings, and parents live in a single room, about 4x4m (13x13ft). They have a small balcony. His mother says that sometimes he says deeply disturbing things a child his age should never utter. They are both receiving psychological support through my non profit @inaraorg along with us also providing Rafik’s medical treatment. It breaks my heart to see yet another sweet boy suffer so much and know there are countless others who need our help. Syria is no longer in the headlines, but children are being killed and injured almost daily in Idlib province. An unknown number wounded in the previous 8 years have not received the medical treatment they need. We should not abandon them. We should do our best to give them a chance to change their narrative.
