I have yet to meet a woman who hasn’t struggled with some sort of body image issues. Society and the beauty industry are structured in a way that make even the strongest of wills crumble under its expectations. The idea of a “perfect body” doesn’t exist. If you look, even that has changed over time. Marketing treats bodies as if they are fashions that can go in and out of style. And that is just utter bullshit ! Your body was shaped and molded to honor where your ancestor derived from. How cool is that! And why do we forget that?! I wanted to share these passages from one of my favorite books, from a chapter called ‘Joyous bodies: body talk,’ from ‘ Women who run with the wolves’. Whenever I am feeling low about my own body, or shaming myself for not looking perfect by 2019’s standard of what a perfect body should look like, I read these passages and remind myself that : I would never bash my mothers body, my grandmothers body or my future daughters body; so why would I bash my own? To reject my own body, is to reject their bodies and why, why, why would I ever do that?! You are beautiful just the way you are. You were built the way you are built for a reason, for a purpose ! Honor your ancestors by honoring yourself. Let’s smash this “ideal” of what a perfect body should look like. Why are we letting outside voices and corporations determine how we feel about ourselves. Let’s all make a pact - lets try and catch ourselves. When we are being critical and hard on our bodies today, sit for even just 15 seconds, close your eyes and envision all the women who came before you and who will come after you. See that tribe that you are a part of and be proud. Be proud that you have your mothers hips, your great grandmothers thighs or your future daughters hands and arms. Shut off the criticism and just bask in this long line of bodies you are connected to. Try to do this same thing when you catch yourself judging someone else as well. Honor your fellow sisters for what line (finished in the comments below)」11月20日 0時45分 - torreydevitto
