For my final post I wanted to show the finished Rey illustration, and I wanted to give you a tip on how to paint bright light, like the one coming of her lightsaber. The way to paint a bright light is by painting the light it gives out on the outside, rather than in it’s core. What I mean by that is, in order to paint her blue lightsaber glowing, I have to leave the center blank and add a little bit of blue paint on the outside of the core of the lightsaber to give the illusion of a glowing light. It sounds a bit strange, but if you give it a try you’ll how easy and fun it is to paint lights! Last but not least, when inking this piece I used my Micron pens for the fine details, specifically my 005 Micron pen. For her clothing, I used a Micron 05 to give her a thicker outline. The thicker line helps with separating her from the background, and bringing her forward as she is the focus of the whole painting. ⁠⠀
