On the other end of the spectrum, forcing it is not necessarily a reflection of effort or consistency. It’s basically the moment we stop being ourselves.

If we have to pretend to be someone else in order to keep a friendship or relationship going, we’re forcing it. You’ll know it because you start telling your other friends things you’re afraid to tell the person you’re with—and that’s an opportunity to stand in your truth, make an adjustment, or it may be time to ✌🏾 out.

The onus is on you to look after yourself. There are no victims—just people who refused to acknowledge the truth of the situation. And it’s far better to be on your own than having to pretend to be someone you’re not in order to keep someone else interested in you.
