The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition was founded in 1883 and is the world’s oldest international schools’ writing contest. The Duchess of Cornwall has hosted a winners’ reception at Buckingham Palace on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen for the past six years, where young writers from all over the Commonwealth came to collect their certificates. While in Christchurch, Her Royal Highness also presented awards to young people who had participated in the competition this year.
