When the family carried the remains of Tjokorde Isteri Muter up the cremation tower, everything for a few moments became silent, its massiveness towering 30 meters or more to the sky. Moments later it was burned, carrying the spirit of Tjokorde into the afterlife. Death in Balinese Hinduism is a mixture of mourning, a celebration of life and the afterlife to come.
