However, there remains another obstacle in the form of the Japan Spa Association. Owners of Japan's famed baths and pools fear geothermal plants will use up all of the hot water. There is no scientific basis to support this theory; likewise, there is no evidence to disprove it. Like many things in this amazing country, the situation hangs in a state of frustrating bureaucratic limbo. In a further twist of irony, Japanese technology dominates the market with Toshiba, Mitsubishi and Fuji Electric supply 70% of the world's geothermal turbines.
