What does it take to create a sacred experience in a secular world? That was the question architect Siamak Hariri explored while designing the Bahá'í Temple of South America. The end result is iridescent: made with stone and glass, it appears translucent and lights up, and the shape captures the movement of the sun throughout the day. “In a world which is putting up walls, the design needed to express in form the very opposite,” he says. “It had to be open, welcoming to people of all faiths, walks of life, backgrounds, or no faith at all; a new form of sacred space with no pattern or models to draw from.” Learn more about his creative process at the link in our bio.
