We pleated the fabric first, then once it was pleated it was gathered... it was scissor cut and feathered by hand, sort of like feathering hair, and then the layers were stitched onto these huge crinoline shapes. They started out quite small, but then they grew... metres and metres of fabric... I think it took about fifty people to cut them – they literally took so much man power and space to make them that I remember we had to take over the whole press office with people cutting organza.
