Nestled into the rolling ridges of Great Smoky Mountains #NationalPark in #Tennessee, Cades Cove is one of the most popular destinations in the park. Hunting grounds for the Cherokee people for centuries, the first European settlers arrived in the Cove in the early 1820s. They quickly built log homes, barns, corncribs, smokehouses and cleared land for farming. Visitors today can immerse themselves in this cultural history as well as take advantage of some of the best wildlife viewing in the region. Large numbers of white-tailed deer are frequently seen, and sightings of black bear, coyote, ground hog, turkey, raccoon, skunk and countless birds are also possible.
