ナオミ・シマダさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ナオミ・シマダInstagram)「sharing this for friends @savelatinvillage : pueblito paisa, also known as ‘latin village’, is located in the heart of Tottenham and for decades has provided a thriving market place for working class ethnic minority immigrant communities and businesses + hosts the 2nd largest Latino community in the UK. they’ve been fighting closure at the hands of greedy developers for years and they need our help more than ever. ‘At around midday Fabian, beloved trader and friend from Unit 53, was rushed to hospital on oxygen with suspected covid-19. Today, we celebrate him and his immense contributions to our community. We also want to call out the constant discrimination, harassment, victimisation and total injustice Fabian faced in the lead up to Covid-19. Fabian is one of the few Afro-Colombian licenced traders and has traded within the village for over 10 years. Many of you might remember a few weeks ago, we asked for urgent support for our community to stop the unlawful eviction of a trader. Fabian was that trader. In February, he had his electricity cables cut and equipment taken by the management of the market despite the community asking for further evidence and legal justification. This behaviour has continued towards the traders in a time where they are even more vulnerable, and their cultural/ business rights are under threat. Now we’re left praying for Fabian’s recovery. Covid-19 disproportionately effects those from lower economic and social backgrounds, and we have been fatally let down by those in power. Today we celebrate and pray for our local hero, Fabian, from unit 53. Please send us your messages of love and support. The Latin Village has been a Mutual Aid centre for decades, we will continue to protect and celebrate community. If you’d like to help, link is in my bio! Fabian with the assistance of Bindmans, filed a race discrimination claim in court against MAM/Quarterbridge under the Equality Act 2010 which initially led to setting up of this Crowdjustice page. Thank you Fabian, we're praying for your speedy recovery ❤️’ . . . 📷: @alexkuru #savelatinvillage #latinvillagefightsback」4月2日 0時31分 - naomishimada
