Piercings, belt buckles, thrill of frills, and all that bandaged neon - sexy, seductive and strange all at the same time - Kane is one of those designers that I feel like I’ve grown up with during my time in fashion. He is of my generation and emerged at a time when London was just beginning to enter a golden age of young designers, mostly tutored by Louise Wilson. His idiosyncrasy and intrepidness has made anything from gel filled dresses to gorilla photo prints convincing and covetable to the extreme - Therefore I had to talk up this look 7 electric blue dress from that collection (reissued for @brownsfashion I believe) for my #LovedClothesLast tale. A bandage dress of a lesser sort can so easily fall into tawdry territory. But coupled with the white plastic toy buckle, the Elastoplast lace frills and an oversized Swarovski covered zip toggle, it deftly heads into a pleasingly weirder direction - I was so obsessed with Kane’s MA collection and that first one, so much so I would try to recreate it on the cheap with charity shop finds back in the early days of Style Bubble - Sadly these dresses weren’t produced in huge quantities but I lucked out later in 2015 when it popped up on eBay - remember when you could still score something special at a reasonable price? - Designer resale/consignment is such a big business in itself today that I have to say, sometimes the sheer amount of clothes that is out there makes the hunting process less thrilling in comparison to when you would hap upon really special things on eBay or in vintage stores - I certainly won’t be giving this up for love or money, even if zipping it up is a two person job 🤣🤣🤣 - Keep on ravin’ @kanechristopher82 .. you’ll always and forever be a pillar of my wardrobe」4月23日 1時31分 - susiebubble
