Photo by @ismailferdous | On a quiet Sunday afternoon I happened upon Mary Bolela walking to the temporary hospital at Coler campus, on Roosevelt Island. Mary, a nurse since 1989, traveled from Mississippi to volunteer in New York City to care for COVID-19 patients. The hospital doesn’t have a cafeteria, so on a break Mary went to the grocery store to buy soda for herself and other workers.
