マーキータ・プリングさんのインスタグラム写真 - (マーキータ・プリングInstagram)「I was on the beach in Mozambique with a friend who was reading an excerpt from a book to me... this particular passage was about the star sign cancer 🙋🏽‍♀️and how water and the scarab beetle represent that sign. Just after my friend read that passage he noticed something on the shore and got up and went to it. He called me over to see what he had found. I couldn’t believe it. It was a giant scarab beetle laying belly up, he seemed to have drowned. I picked him up. I had never seen anything so beautiful. His vibrant green shell turned to this golden bronze when you moved him in the sun (The video doesn’t do his vibrancy justice. ) I couldn’t believe that nature could produce something with such coloring. Not to mention the awesome synchronicity that we were just reading about scarabs and water and my star sign and BAM there’s a scarab in the water just waiting for us to save him. I was bummed that he was dead but I still thought I should bring him home and let him dry out on the porch. I did just that and after leaving him alone for a while i went back out to the porch to check him out. He was moving! I had left him on his feet but now he was belly up, his legs waving in the air and a little puddle of salt water he had spat up was next to him. He was alive! I was so excited but also totally freaked out... he was MASSIVE...but I couldn’t let that keep me from playing with him. Later, I brought him over to a tree so he could be free. He flew away and I thought that was the end of our time together. But it wasn’t, he would come back often and visit us during the rest of our trip, sometimes during the day, sometimes at night.
