Gardening fun for seniors
I was invited by Chaminade University as a judge of the Students’ project on Small senior facility in Honolulu.
It is actually my real project and it was fun to observe what students did for the same facility.
What caught my attention was gardening for seniors.
Many seniors enjoy having a hobby of gardening and in fact it is a great hobby.
Many senior living facilities are encouraging to create a gardening area.
For the universal design standpoint of view, I recommend using the raised up flower beds or flower stands.
They are easier and gentle for the people who are having back pain problems and some of the planters/beds take people on the wheelchairs.
These work for small Lanai and would like to consider for your future project?
高齢者のガーデニングの楽しみ
先日シャミナード大学から、ホノルルの小規模シニア施設に関する学生のプロジェクトの審査員として招待されました。 実は私が手掛ける本当のプロジェクトで、学生が同じ施設で何をデザインしたかを目するのはとても楽しかったです。 私の注意を引いたのは、高齢者のためのガーデニングでした。 多くの高齢者がガーデニングの趣味を楽しんでおり、実際に素晴らしい趣味だとおもっています。 多くのシニア施設は、ガーデニングエリアの作成を奨励しています。 ユニバーサルデザインの立場からは、地面の高さから一段高くなった花壇や花台をお勧めします。 腰痛の問題を抱えている人々には簡単でやさしい作業ができることと車いすが入るスペースを考慮したプランター/ベッドは車椅子に乗った方々の作業も可能にしてくれます。 小さなラナイのためにも、あなたの将来のプロジェクトとしてお考えになりませんか？
