As a follower of Christ I am deeply disturbed by how the oppression of Black and Native American people has been enacted by people misusing Jesus’ name and teachings in this country since it began 400 years ago. Manifest destiny was more important than trusting the movement of the Spirit they claim to trust. Make no mistake. We are reaping what our “Christian” ancestors sowed. That’s how it works. You can’t plant tomato seeds and get a peach tree. You can’t graft poison ivy to roses and (if that even worked) expect it to stop being poisonous just because there are some beautiful things there. The poison has to come out. This is how it works. Whatever is sown is what will be reaped.
It’s up to us now to uproot the bad seeds of division and fear. It’s up to us to embrace and learn from those who are different from us. “Different” is vital. We all bleed the same. We are all created equally. But our differences are our beauty! This video is that love and compassion in action! •
