What exactly does that even do. ⁣ ⁣ However I gave it much thought and its purpose is to not only show solidarity, but to focus everyone’s attention, however what use is all the attention if there is no discussion? ⁣ ⁣ Dialogue is what’s needed right now and I think we’ve all made an error in judgement thinking the change has to start at the top. Sure that would be ideal, but I think we can push change upwards if we ‘the little people’ make a conscious efforts to break the cycle, and that cycle is ignorance and a lack of empathy. ⁣ ⁣ In the U.S. and in countries around the world the current fight is for black lives to be ‘equal’ to every other, that is and has been the ongoing task. In order for progress to be made, people of all races need to acknowledge that fact, fight the ingrained prejudices and really get to know your neighbours for who they are, not what you’ve been told to believe. ⁣ ⁣ This will help, but as I said before, it won’t extinguish racism in its entirety, the rest need to be removed from civilised society; in the police force, judicial system and in YOUR place of work. ⁣ ⁣ When we see people suffering in countries with political instability, how concerned are we? How active are we in trying to help? Some have seen what we witnessed on our phones and tv screens in real life, but why would we care? It doesn’t effect us right? ⁣ ⁣ That is what we are dealing with here in a predominantly white country, the racism doesn’t effect the majority of people, people we want to help us change it, that is our biggest hurdle.⁣ I am embarrassed that I have not instinctively taken interest in the plight of others, and I hope to amend that moving forward, but yes right now I want #justiceforfloyd I want black lives to ‘equally’ matter, so stand with us, let’s make headway on this, then moving forward, each and EVERYONE of us needs look out for for those suffering prejudice or discrimination and do our best to stand with them. ⁣ ⁣ Last thing!
