Photo by @babaktafreshi | I was at Lake Tekapo on the South Island of New Zealand last November. It is known as an International Dark Sky Reserve named Aoraki Mackenzie. In this 10-second single-exposure photograph, the Southern Cross and Coalsack Nebula are on the right and Carina Nebula hangs above the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd. I was there as a speaker for the Starlight Conference, which focused on natural night values and light pollution.
