ブルックリン美術館さんのインスタグラム写真 - (ブルックリン美術館Instagram)「Happy Juneteenth! @soulsinfocus here again to share select portraits of community members attending Juneteenth celebrations and demonstrations on the Museum’s plaza. Along with taking their portrait, we posed the question: What does Junteenth mean to you today? Here are some of their answers: Joy: Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom. I’m glad more people are recognizing the holiday. It’s truly symbolic at this time in our history to celebrate Black people and freedom. ⇨ Nile: It’s a day we really should celebrate. Hopefully a national holiday. ⇨ Shaquana: Exceed expectations and soaring above all the pain and suffering ⇨ Joseph: Juneteenth is not only about celebration, but also about acknowledgment! Acknowledgment of pain, struggle, pride, and joy of Blackness in America and more so all those of the African diaspora. ⇨ Monique: It means the celebration of free Black slaves! I hope this day will highlight more of Black history. ⇨ D. Woods and Jeremy: The day we as Black people in this country were finally free. We need to celebrate this with joy and fight to make the promise of this day a reality. ⇨ Gow: A celebration of the TRUE end of slavery. ⇨ Chrystelle: Juneteenth marks the idea that we are no longer physically bound. But, I think there are ways that we remain bound systemically that require a lot of work! ⇨ Seany: A long road. Remembrance. Freedom. ⇨ Lisa, Matt, and Henry: The beginning of a journey that has taken WAY too long.⠀ ⠀ Ten portraits by photographer @visualsbysade of @soulsinfocus」6月20日 5時25分 - brooklynmuseum
